$4.4M Sale Restructures Ownership of Haslam Property

GIRARD, Ohio — While Jimmy Haslam’s Cleveland Browns were trying to win their first game of the season in December, Haslam’s company was busy restructuring the ownership of some its Pilot Travel Centers.

The Haslam-family controlled PTC Inc. transferred ownership of the truck stop at 2786 Salt Springs Road off I-80. The new owner is another Haslam-controlled entity, Pilot Travel Centers LLC.

While essentially an in-house transfer, the transaction was recorded Dec. 21 as a sale and the 6,625-square-foot fueling station sold for $4,446,721 or about $670 per square foot.

The property includes a Subway sandwich shop, 80 parking spots, seven showers and nine diesel fuel lanes.

The transfer was one of several others that Pilot Travel Centers completed in the past month including gas stations in Augusta, Ga., New Jersey and the Philadelphia area.

Other large commercial real estate transactions recorded last month include:

  • Tavenner Associates LLC paying $2,973,500 to buy apartment complexes at 4151 and 4201 Logangate Road in Liberty Township. The seller is Timber Country Ltd.
  • EPG Boardman Ltd. paid $2.8 million to purchase the site of Ashley Furniture HomeStore, at 340 Boardman-Poland Road in Boardman. A&R Properties LP was the seller.
  • A warehouse at 6124 S. Pricetown Road in Berlin Center was purchased by Vernkidz LLC for $2.4 million from John and Jane Donadee.
  • The former discount grocery store at 886 E. Midlothian Blvd. in Youngstown was purchased by 886 East Midlothian for $625,000. It was sold by Aldi Inc.
