Akron Children’s Reaches $20M Milestone in Valley

BOARDMAN, Ohio – Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley has raised $20.4 million to support programs and services that benefit local children and families since the opening of the Beeghly campus in December 2008, the hospital reports.

This evening the hospital will recognize prominent donors, volunteers, staff and community partners at the 2017 Champions for Our Valley’s Children event at The Lake Club in Poland. Six individuals and organizations will receive the children’s advocate award.

“The generous support that we’ve received from individuals, businesses and foundations has truly been humbling,” said JoAnn Stock, senior director of development, in announcing the milestone. “The support of the community has helped us to grow and expand the programs and services that are available to our local children and families.”

Additionally, the hospital is at the midway point of its Vision for Our Valley’s Children Campaign. Funds raised during the campaign’s 2013-2020 time frame will be used to support one of four focus areas: basic annual needs, facility and campus improvements, people and programs, and legacy and endowment. The campaign has raised $14.5 million toward a goal of $25 million.
