Alzheimer’s Association Selects New Executive Director

HUDSON, Ohio The Alzheimer’s Association Greater East Ohio Area Chapter has selected Cheryl Kanetsky as the chapter’s new executive director.

“I am very happy to be joining the Greater East Ohio Area Chapter in their tireless service to those with dementia and their families,” Kanetsky said. “It is particularly exciting to see the recent increases in Alzheimer’s funding and Medicare services that are so critical to people living with this disease.”

As executive director, Kanetsky will oversee the management of the association’s local programs and services, awareness and advocacy efforts, and fundraising activities in the chapter’s 17-county service area.

Across that 17 county service area, nearly 60,000 individuals are living with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia – the largest prevalence of the seven Alzheimer’s Association chapters serving Ohio. The chapter also provides caregiver education and support groups available to any of the nearly 250,000 people affected through their role as caregiver within the service area.

Kanetsky has served as the Alzheimer’s Association Cleveland Area Chapter’s vice president of programs and services since 2009, and in other roles with the Association since 2000. She holds a bachelor’s in psychology & social work from Cleveland State University, a master’s of business administration from Tiffin University, and is a licensed social worker.
