Autism Society Offers Free Family Portraits Oct. 7

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Autism Society of Ohio is offering a caring, patient family portrait session for families with disabilities. The 20-minute-per-family sessions will take place Oct. 7 at the Mill Creek MetroParks Farm in Canfield,  thanks to the generous support of several local photographers and donors.

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., participants will have their choice of indoor studio-style portraits, holiday or outdoor seasonal settings.

“The harsh flashing and controlled environment of typical studios combined with unprepared photographers is often impossible to overcome,” explained Aundréa Cika, director of Autism Society of Ohio, Mahoning Valley. “This had made it very difficult for our families to have a quality family picture taken. We have found that by creating a liberal, open setting with fewer restrictions, these family mementos can be created and cherished for years to come.”

Participating families will receive a free sitting, a best choice 5×7 and three edited professional-level images taken during their sessions for unrestricted personal use and reproduction. Additional portrait packages are available upon request for standard fees.

The barns at the farm will be open for animal visits, and complimentary hayrides will be offered to all participants. Free refreshments will include apple cider and gluten-free baked goods from Patty’s Cookies & More. The event is sponsored by Ohio Naturopathic Valley Autism 5K, Aprillyne Photography and Jada Landgraver Photography.

Space is extremely limited. Preregistration is required and will be available online at the society website. For more information, call 330 743 9184.
