Groundbreaking Set for New Neil Kennedy House

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Neil Kennedy Recovery Center will break ground on its newest recovery house with a ceremony 10 a.m. Sept. 20.

The construction site is adjacent to the Recovery Center’s main campus, 2151 Rush Blvd. in Youngstown.

The house will be the Recovery Center’s fourth offering temporary housing for those recovering from substance abuse. The center also opened the Gelbman House in 2014 and Doc’s Place in 2015 as temporary housing.

Services at the new house will be the same as the existing centers: 24-hour security, meals, community-building activities, recovery coaching and full treatment services at the Neil Kennedy Recovery Center.

Established as the Youngstown Committee on Alcoholism Inc. in 1946, the clinic was the nation’s first nonprofit addiction treatment facility.
