Harvard Prof to Lecture on Black Lives Matter

Youngstown, Ohio – Evelyn Brooks Higginbotham, a professor of history and African-American studies at Harvard University will give a lecture on the Black Lives Matter movement at Youngstown State University March 18.

The event begins at 5 p.m. in Kilcawley Center and is open to the public. A reception with Higginbotham is scheduled after her presentation.

Higginbotham, author of Righteous Discontent: The Women’s Movement in the Black Baptist Church, was one of the 10 recipients of the 2014 National Humanities Medal and was named one of the top 25 women in higher education by Diverse Magazine.

The event, hosted by the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, is sposnsored by the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity, the Bitonte College of Health and Human Services and the YSU Student Diversity Programs department.
