Harvest for Hunger Campaign Kicks Off Wednesday

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Second Harvest Food Bank kicks off its 25th annual campaign of Harvest for Hunger at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the food bank, 2805 Salt Springs Road, Mike Iberis reports.

Iberis is the executive director of Second Harvest.

Donations and contributions will help the food bank stock its shelves for the spring and summer months when donations taper off, he says

Last year, Harvest for Hunger raised $194,035 and collected more than 35,000 pounds of food. “All funds raised and food collected remains in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties to help feed our friends and neighbors,” Iberis says.

In 2015, Second Harvest distributed 10.4 million pounds of food, including three million pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Those interested in participating should contact Paige Tomlinson-Miller at 330 792 5522 ext. 102 or visit www.mahoningvalleysecondharvest.org to download a registration form.
