Hine Grant Funds New Exhibits at Oh Wow!

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Hine Memorial Fund has awarded a $172,304 grant to Oh Wow! The Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology,.

The Hine Memorial Fund is a component fund of the Youngstown Foundation.

The grant will help fund the installation of three new hands-on, interactive exhibits coming to the center, completing the Drive to Excel exhibit hall in the lower level, said Suzanne Barbati, Oh Wow executive director. All three are being designed and built by RedBox Workshop, Chicago.

The first exhibit, “Drive to Hear,” will introduce information about the ear – how it works, how it can be protected and how technology can be used to help people hear. Completion is planned by Sept. 18, Silly Science Sunday.

“Drive to Dance” will feature a dance floor and an electronic instructor to show and tell visitors how to dance using a variety of prosthetic legs.

“Drive to Hold” will feature a life-size game modeled on pinball, in which visitors will move a ball through the exhibit using a variety of prosthetic arms and legs.
