Mock Named Outstanding School Board Member

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio School Board Association has named Kathy Mock one of its outstanding school board members for the northeast region. Mock is the president of the Austintown School Board.

Along with the three other recipients of the award, Mock will honored at the association’s northeast region fall conference in Wadsworth on Oct. 5. With the award, she is eligible to receive the All-Ohio School Board Award, the School Board Association’s top honor.

“We all see the work that Kathy puts in for our children and those in our community,” said Austintown superintendent Vincent Colaluca in a statement. “She is constantly involved in programs that prepare our children for future success. I am very happy she is being recognized for her hard work and dedication.”

Mock has been on Austintown’s school board for six years, five of which have been spent as president. She also teaches at Youngstown State University’s Beeghly College of Education and works for United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley as its director of education and initiatives. In that position, Mock supervises the Success by 6, Success After Six and Dolly Parton Imagination Library programs in Mahoning County.
