Kufleitner Sells Salem Dealership, Will Open Boardman Store

SALEM, Ohio – John Kufleitner has sold his Salem Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram dealership and will be opening a dealership in Boardman next year.

The dealer says Chrysler approached him a year ago about opening a dealership in Boardman and regulations prevent dealers from owning stores in three connecting markets.

He will keep his Columbiana store and J.R. Armour, owner of a Chrysler dealership in Alliance, will take over the Salem store, renaming it Wally Armour Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Salem. The sale is effective Nov. 1.

“I had no intention of leaving Salem, but I feel whoever goes to Boardman will have the upper hand on the Chrysler market in the whole Mahoning Valley,” Kufleitner told the Lisbon Morning Journal. “We feel we can service Columbiana County with one dealership. It’s been my extreme pleasure to serve the good people of Salem and have built a lot of great relationships and will continue to strengthen those relationships.”

Most of the dealership staff will stay on board, he continued, and most of the inventory will be moved to Kufleitner’s other stores. New cars will go to Columbiana Chrysler Jeep Dodge and used cars will be moved to Kufleitner’s Galleria of Vintage, Classic & Pristine Cars.

The Boardman dealership will take about a year to build and open, he said, adding that he’s hopeful to open it in the 2018 calendar year.
