March for Babies at Eastwood Field Set for Sunday

NILES, Ohio – The Mahoning Valley March for Babies takes place Sunday at Eastwood Field. Registration begins at 11 a.m. with the first event, the kids run, starting at 11:30 a.m.

Following the kids run, there will be a three-mile march and a one-mile march for families. About 1,000 supporters are expected to attend, according to organizers.

The ambassador family for this year’s March for Babies is the Hall family, whose two sons, Jack and Brock, were both born 10 weeks prematurely.

Money raised at the event will be used to fund research examining causes and treatments for early births and to support women who are at risk of having a premature birth

“In Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley, one in eight babies is born prematurely and premature birth is the No. 1 killer of babies,” the March of Dimes said in a statement. “Moms can rely on March of Dimes for everything they need to know about having a healthy baby and how to recognize the warning signs of a premature labor.”
