Mercy Hospitals ‘High Performers’ – U.S. News

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Affiliates of Mercy Health Youngstown collectively have been rated as “high performing” in seven categories in the U.S. News & World Report, “Best Hospitals for Common Care.” They are St. Elizabeth Youngstown, St. Joseph Warren and St. Elizabeth Boardman.

St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital is rated “high performing” in knee replacement, treatment of heart failure and treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. St. Joseph is rated “high performing” in knee replacement and treatment of COPD. St. Elizabeth Boardman is rated “high performing” in the treatment of heart failure and COPD.

U.S. News evaluates more than 4,500 hospitals nationwide on common inpatient procedures and conditions. The magazine evaluated hospitals on five procedures and medical conditions: heart bypass surgery, hip replacement, knee replacement, heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease — and rated them as high performers, average or below average.

Only 10% of the hospitals evaluated were rated as high performers in any category, the magazine says.
