MVHS Open House to Feature ‘Lost Youngstown’ Author

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will host its monthly 140th anniversary open house at the Tyler History Center from noon to 4 p.m. July 16.

The event will feature a presentation by Sean Posey, author of Lost Youngstown at 1 p.m. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and he will sign copies from 1 to 3 p.m.

Posey is a freelance writer, photographer and historian. He holds a bachelor’s degree in photojournalism and a master’s degree in history from Youngstown State University. He is an adjunct faculty member in the department of humanities at Eastern Gateway Community College.

His work has been featured in a variety of publications including The Business Journal, Rust Wire, The Vindicator and the San Francisco Chronicle, as well as in anthologies on Youngstown and Pittsburgh by Belt Publishing.

Visitors to this month’s open house will receive buy one get one free admission sponsored by the Home Savings Charitable Foundation.

The 140th anniversary open houses are held the third Saturday of each month and alternate between the Tyler History Center and the Arms Family Museum. Each will include admission discounts and special experiences with MVHS collections, archives or education staff.
