One-Man Show on C.S. Lewis Set for Oct. 15

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The C.S. Lewis Institute of Northeast Ohio will host a one-man performance chronicling the life of the organization’s namesake Oct. 15 at Trinity United Methodist Church in downtown Youngstown.

“My Life’s Journey, An Evening with C.S. Lewis,” stars David Payne as the author best known for The Chronicles of Narnia series and the theological book Mere Christianity talking about his relationship with key individuals in his life: his wife Joy, his brother Warren, his Oxford colleague J.R.R. Tolkien and, of course, God.”

Payne, who was born in London, has performed “My Life’s Journey” more than 500 times and has frequently portrayed Lewis with the Tennessee Performing Arts Center since 1996.

A pre-show meeting with Payne, including coffee and a cookie table for a “proper Youngstown welcome,” is included with all tickets purchased. The welcome party begins at 6 p.m., with the show two-hour show beginning at 7 p.m.

Tickets range from $15 to $30 and are available at Payne2016.EventBrite.com.

The play is part of the C.S. Lewis Institute’s Theater Series, a component of the organization’s yearlong Fellows Program. The program “challenges and guides participants to a strong understanding of genuine discipleship, mission and conversational apologetics” through bible study, lectures and group processing.

Applications for the 2018-19 Fellows Program will be accepted beginning in February.
