PSU Shenango to Discuss Supply Chain Management

SHARON, Pa. –  Penn State Shenango will hold a 90-minute panel on project and supply chain management 6 p.m. March 2 at its campus auditorium here. The discussion will include representatives from FedEx, UPMC and JMC Steel Group.

“The business faculty at Penn State Shenango initiated “Project and Supply Chain Management: In Business and In Health” in order to bring together members of business and health care community to hear from experts in their fields about the importance of supply chain management in today’s world,” said Lisa Bertin, coordinator of the project and supply chain management program at Penn State Shenango.

Speakers include Harry Gillespie, director of information technology for FedEx, UPMC’s vice president of materials management, Tim Nedley, and Tim Feeney, manager of operations for JMS Steel.

The panel discussion launches Penn State Shenango’s project and supply chain management major, Bertin said, which will be available to students beginning this fall.

“The major concentrates on developing knowledge, skills and abilities in project management, an important discipline in modern corporations,” she said. “It also emphasizes the integration of manufacturing and service operations, logistics, purchasing, and distribution that enable organizations to develop supply chain networks.”
