YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Jennifer Pintar, chair of the Department of Kinesiology and Sports Science, at Youngstown State University, has been named associate provost for academic administration at YSU.

“Dr. Pintar is a successful, respected faculty member and department chair on campus and will bring with her the background and experience to excel in this position,” said Martin Abraham, provost.

Pintar starts the new position on Aug. 1. She replaces Teri Riley, who passed away in September 2015.

Pintar holds four degrees: bachelor’s of biology from Washington and Jefferson College; and a master’s of exercise physiology, a master’s of public health in epidemiology and a doctorate in exercise physiology, all from the University of Pittsburgh.

She joined the YSU faculty in 1999 as an instructor, was promoted to assistant professor in 2002, associate professor in 2005 and professor in 2012. She was named department chair in 2014. She has several professional publications, presentations and grants, as well as several awards, including the Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society Chapter 143, the Distinguished Professorship Award for Excellence in Teaching (twice) and the Northeast Ohio Council on Higher Education Celebration of Teaching Excellence Award.

Pintar’s responsibilities will include providing leadership on behalf of and as delegated by the provost in areas of academic resource planning and management, programming evaluation, and personnel activities of the Division of Academic Affairs. She will be working closely with academic deans and executive directors in advancing the academic enterprise, and in guiding strategic processes of the academic division.
