PNC Bank Offers New Travel Rewards Visa Card

PITTSBURGH – PNC began offering the PNC Premier Traveler Visa Signature credit card Monday, a card that awards users two miles for every dollar they spend on qualifying purchases. Gift cards are excluded.

The annual fee of $85 is waived the first year, PNC said, and it will not charge a foreign transaction fee when a customer uses it to withdraw cash at an ATM owned by another financial institution. In addition, the cardholder enjoys its Visa Signature perks that include 24/7 concierge service reservations and ticketing.

“From generous earning opportunities to exclusive travel perks and protection, PNC’s Premium Traveler card gives cardholders everything they need,” Todd Rosenthal said in a prepared statement. “Unlike some other travel cards, there are no blackout dates or reward caps or categories to remember.

Rosenthal is PNC general manager for credit cards.

Cardholders can redeem their miles as a statement credit to cover what they charge related to hotel stays, car rentals. cruises and rail travel, PNC said.

Other features:

  • Points do not expire on miles awarded.
  • No blackout periods on airline travel.
  • 30,000 bonus miles when the cardholder makes $3,000 in qualifying purchases within three months of opening a Premier Traveler account.
  • Lost luggage reimbursement, travel accident insurance, travel and emergency assistance services and Roadside Dispatch.
