Primanti Brothers Prepares to Open in Boardman

BOARDMAN, Ohio – One of the best-known restaurants based in Pittsburgh is about to open to a hungry crowd here

Primanti Brothers plans to open its first restaurant in Ohio at 6731 South Avenue this Friday. To entice customers, the restaurant is giving away free sandwiches for a year to the first 100 customers in line.

Those looking to be in that first 100 can begin lining up at 8 p.m. today. Doors open tomorrow afternoon.

“We’ve finally crossed the border and are excited about our first restaurant in Ohio,” David Head, Primanti CEO, said in a statement. “And those fans who are willing to start lining up early – we’ve got a great night planned.”

Primanti held a preview party Wednesday night to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank.

The restaurant here is Primanti’s 27th. The restaurant was founded in 1933 in Pittsburgh’s Strip District and is best known for its “Almost Famous” sandwich – described as “a delicacy piled high with select meats, optional egg, secret recipe coleslaw and fresh-cut fries.”
