Public Comment Open on Proposed Brookfield Wells

BROOKFIELD, Ohio – Residents interested in providing public comment related to the development of three new injection wells planned for the township have until Christmas Day to do so.

Highland Field Services LLC, based in Pittsburgh, started informing the public through legal notices in area newspapers last week. Under Ohio law, the public has 15 days to comment after the final notice is published, which was Sunday. The deadline to submit comments is Dec. 25.

Highland Field Services plans to drill three new additional wells near the Wyngate Mobile Home park just off state Route 7. The company in June was given the green light by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to proceed with construction of two injection wells at the site, but Ohio law requires the company secure approval from ODNR for the three additional wells.

According to Highland Field Services, the company plans to inject 5,000 barrels per day at a depth between 7,600 to 8,750 feet.
