Reception Saturday at M Gallery for Visions of Potential

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The M Gallery at Erie Terminal Place will host an artist reception for Visions of Potential exhibit Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m.

The exhibit, featuring local artists Melanie Rae Buonovolonta, Sarah Bokone, Adam Gregory, Carl Paul Henneman, DeShawn Scott and James Shuttic, features work showing abandoned industrial sites in Mahoning and Trumbull counties “while presenting brownfield revitalization as a public outreach project.”

The gallery, initially hosted at the Trumbull Art Gallery last autumn, will be open through March 18.

“The show evokes the sense of loss experienced when these industries became part of history,” said gallery director Johanna George in a release. “By documenting the contrast of what it was and what could be, it also creates a strong sense of hope.”

Visions of Potential will also feature designs created by students participating in the Midwest Design Charette in October. Students from Ball State University, Lawrence Technological University and Kent State University’s Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative toured several industrial sites and designed alternative use projects for them.
