Registration Open for YWCA Summer STEAM Camps

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – YWCA Youngstown is holding a variety of science, technology, arts, engineering and mathematics camps for children during July and August.

Young Artists Camp is from 9 to 11:30 a.m. July 17 to 21 for children in grades 3 to 8. Included will be drawing fundamentals, watercolor painting, block printing, and making a pinhole camera. On the last day, a Young Artists Art gallery will be open for viewing. The cost is $50.

Stop! Hip Hop! Camp will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. July 17 to 21 for grades 3 to 8. Students will learn basic hip-hop moves and a choreographed hip-hop dance that will be performed at the end of the week for families. The cost is $30. Lunch is included if also attending Young Artists.

Raspberry Pi App Camp is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 7 to 11 for grades 7 to 9. This camp combines information technology, computer technology and app development. Students will build their own working computer using a Raspberry Pi. Once the computer is finished, they will learn basic computer coding and work to develop a simple application. All students will get to take home their working Raspberry Pi at the end of the week. The cost is $200.
