Salem Chamber to Hold Annual Meeting Nov. 18

SALEM, Ohio – The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual meeting at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 18 in the Salem Community Center.

At the luncheon, the chamber will present its three annual awards: Outstanding Citizen of the Year, Business of the Year and Nonprofit Organization of the Year.

Karen Carter will be honored with the citizen award. She works with the Salem Preservation Society and the Salem Beautification Committee and played a key role in the renovation of Salem City Schools’ Reilly Stadium as well as Operation Paintbrush, an effort to clean up the downtown

“Karen is totally committed to Salem. She always gives 110% in anything she does. She paints a broad stroke across our community,” says Audrey Null, executive director of the chamber, in a statement.

The Salem News was selected as the Business of the Year while both the Rotary Club of Salem and Family Recovery services will be given the Nonprofit Organization of the Year award.

“[The Salem News] is always featuring businesses and we’re proud to have such an excellent hometown paper,” Null said. “The Rotary gives back to our community in the way of grants, donations and youth programs. And Family Recovery, from a business standpoint, works to develop drug-free programs and does vital programming.”

Chamber members will elect six new members to the board of directors.

The meeting is $30 for members, $35 for guests. Deadline for reservations is Nov. 13. For more information, call 330 337 3473.
