Student Compositions Featured in Dana School Recital

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Eight students in the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University will have pieces they composed performed at a recital 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15 in Bliss Hall.

The recital is free and open to the public. It will be held in the composition studio run by strings professor David Morgan in room 2222.

As part of using the composition studio, students must not only create their piece, but also write the event program, set up the performance space, record the music and find an audience.

“The composition studio offers an entrepreneurial aspect for students since they not only must compose the music, but they need to find willing musicians to perform their music at rehearsals and for the concert,” Morgan said in a release. “This prepares them for what they will need to do in the real world.”
