Stage Door to Open New Performing Arts Center

BOARDMAN, Ohio – The Stage Door Dance & Theatre Arts will celebrate the grand opening of its new performing arts center here with a ribbon-cutting and open house July 28.

The new center, 721 Boardman-Poland Road, is 10,000 square feet with three dance rooms, a voice and music practice room, locker rooms, a patio and a boutique and snack bar in the lobby. As a result of the expansion, the dance and theater school will expand its curriculum to include more music and visual arts lessons.

“Our goal at The Stage Door has always been to provide a world-class curriculum that allows our students to become a ‘triple threat’ with dancing, acting and singing; and our new home gives us ample opportunity to expand upon that mission,” said owner Teri Nobbs in a statement. “With the new facility, we are closer to becoming a cultural anchor for the Mahoning Valley.”

Nobbs opened The Stage Door in 2012 with 20 students enrolled. Today, the performing arts school has more than 300 students.

Future plans for expansion include a performance theater with seating for 170 people available for community use, the owner added.
