WARREN, Ohio – The American Cancer Society will hold its 19th annual Tri-County Golf Classic Aug. 28 at Avalon Lakes Golf Course.
Through the years, more than $1.8 million has been raised to benefit the American Cancer Society in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties. In 2016, the event raised close to $100,000, organizers say.
This year’s honoree is Gail E. McCullough Jr., owner and operator of Chick-fil-A in Boardman. McCullough opened the first local franchise in 1980, and since has employed thousands of local workers and awarded over 50 college scholarships to employees.
Honorary chairwoman is Kathy Cook, president of St. Joseph Warren Hospital. Cook has been a part of Mercy Health since 1983, and has held various leadership positions at all three Mercy Health-Youngstown hospitals.
