UCFC Names Treasurer Esson Chief Financial Officer

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — United Community Financial Corp., holding company of the Home Savings and Loan Co., has named its treasurer, Timothy W. Esson, chief financial officer as well, Gary M. Small, president and CEO announced Monday.

The post of CFO had been vacant since last April 25 when James R. Reske left to accept a similar position with First Commonwealth Financial Corp., Indiana, Pa.

Esson, age 65, was also promoted to executive vice president of Home Savings.

Esson joined Home Savings in May 2003 as vice president of finance and was named principal accounting officer and treasurer of UCFC April 10, 2014. Before that, he was senior vice president and CFO of Home Savings, posts he held since March 2011.

In a prepared statement, Small said, “Appointing Tim as the principal accounting officer and treasurer of UCFC provided a smooth transition for us and Tim has done a tremendous job in this role. Tim’s 35 years of accounting and finance experience in the financial services industry represent a valuable asset to our organization and we look forward to Tim playing an important role in the future success of the company.”
