YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – As part of an effort to convert South Field House into a community center, the Save South Field House Initiative is hosting two events to “celebrate its history and deliberate about its future.”

The first event, a community work day to clean up the site, will be held 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 17. Several community and municipal organizations, including Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp., the city’s parks department and the Volney Rodgers Youth Association, will provide support and equipment.

The work day is to prepare the site for the second event, a variety show fundraiser. Admission to the show is $5. Featured acts include Rick Ward and Billy Beck of The Ohio Players, Bryan Sharper of MK78 and several local comedy, hip-hop, gospel and dance acts.
