YSU’s David Stout Honored for Lifetime Service

SARASOTA, Fla. – The American Accounting Association will honor David E. Stout, who holds the Andrews Chair in Accounting at Youngstown State University, with its Lifetime Service Award Aug. 10 at its annual meeting.

The award “recognizes contributions to accounting education over a sustained period of time through services to the AAA, service with the education efforts in the profession through involvement with the American Institute of CPAs, Institute of Management Accountants and other accounting professional organizations, and service for the education efforts of public accounting firms, corporations and not-for-profit organizations, the association said.

To be honored with Stout is Theodore J. Mock, distinguished professor of accounting and assurance at the University of California, Riverside.

Stout, former president of the Ohio region of the accounting association, recently completed a three-year term on the national board of directors. He has been and editor of the scholarly publication Issues in Accounting Education and editor-in-chief of Journal of Accounting Education and written more than 100 articles on accounting education in several professional and scholarly journals.

He is a co-author of the textbook Cost Management: A Strategic Emphasis, 7th Edition, published this year, and was inducted into the Teaching, Learning & Curriculum section of the Ohio chapter of the AAA Hall of Honor in 2008.

Stout is the recipient of the 2015 AAA Outstanding Educator Award.
