Oh Wow! YWCA Set Youth Manufacturing Institutes

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — YWCA of Youngstown, in collaboration with Oh Wow! Children’s Center, is holding two Summer Manufacturing Institutes this summer for youth in grades 4 to 6. The cost is $150 per week per session, and participants may register for one session or both.

Engineering for Space Exploration will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 22-26. Participants will meet various manufacturing professionals and tour local facilities highlighting the latest technologies while designing and building their own working Mars Rover, officials said. The deadline to register is June 15.

Manufacturing Medical Technologies is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. July 20-24. New technology is allowing for the manufacture of bionic athletes, surgical robots, and 3-D printed body parts.

Youth will learn how these new technologies are being used in the Mahoning Valley, meet industry professionals on the cutting edge of these medical breakthroughs while touring local facilities and building their own articulated hand. The registration deadline is July 13.
