COLUMBUS, Ohio – Two Mahoning Valley projects are getting some assistance from the state.
Barfections LLC will receive $149,300 through the Regional 166 Direct Loan Program to assist in financing the purchase of a new JT PRO Flow Wrapper and the installation of new equipment at its facility at 4718 Belmont Ave., Liberty Township. The project, estimated to cost $199,300, is expected to create 24 new full-time jobs and retain 35 existing jobs. Barfections manufactures custom protein bars for established food companies.
The Regional 166 Direct Loan Program promotes economic development, job creation and retention by providing low-interest loans to businesses with limited access to adequate capital from private funding sources.
Also, the state awarded a $250,000 Abandoned Gas Station Cleanup Grant to the Trumbull County Land Reutilization Corporation for cleanup activities at a former gas station site at 1003 N. Main St. in Hubbard. The project is estimated to cost $493,986. Funds will be used for cleanup and assessment activities, including continued free product recovery, potential soil excavation and groundwater cleanup. The land is expected to be marketed for commercial redevelopment upon successful cleanup.
Abandoned Gas Station Cleanup Grants provide funding to assess and clean up former gas and service stations with documented petroleum releases.
The Ohio Department of Development on Thursday announced the release of more than $92 million through a state program designed to attract economic development projects and nearly $900,000 through three state-funded programs aimed at enhancing communities and supporting business growth.
