COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Development announced approximately $21.5 million in grant funding will soon be available to help raze unsafe, blighted buildings and prepare them for new life.
Applications for the latest round of the Demolition and Site Revitalization Program will open Sept. 15. The program helps local leaders demolish dilapidated residential and commercial structures and prepare those properties for future economic development.
To date, the program has invested more than $325 million to support nearly 6,700 demolition projects across every county in the state.
“For five years, the Demolition and Site Revitalization Program has changed the landscape of countless communities,” said Lydia Mihalik, director of the Ohio Department of Development. “We’re looking forward to empowering more of our local partners to clear away barriers of the past and create spaces for new investment and a stronger future.”
This round of funding was made possible with support from the Ohio General Assembly in the most recent biennium budget bill, House Bill 96, which allocated $21.5 million toward the program each fiscal year.
Applications will be open from 10 a.m. Sept. 15 through 5 p.m. Oct. 16.
The Ohio Department of Development will host an informational webinar for prospective applicants at 10 a.m. Sept. 1, covering eligibility, the application process and guideline updates. It will include a question-and-answer session. Register HERE.
