COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three Mahoning Valley institutions are among those throughout the state that will receive Recycle Ohio Grants, the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency announced Tuesday.
In Mahoning County, the Ohio State Penitentiary was awarded $9,600 for source reduction equipment. In Trumbull County, Warren City Schools and Center Brook Historical Society will receive $10,000 and $5,412, respectively, for source reduction equipment.
In northeastern Ohio, 41 governments, businesses, schools and nonprofits were awarded $1.6 million Recycle Ohio Grants to provide litter prevention and cleanup programs, education and outreach, scrap tire collections, recycling market development and expansion of recycling facilities and infrastructure.
Statewide, Ohio EPA awarded more than $5.9 million in grant funding to 147 recipients, with more than $2.9 million specifically for community and litter prevention programs.
