YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – 7 17 Credit Union is charting an ambitious path for growth, announcing plans to double its membership to 200,000 and add 12 new branches across Northeast Ohio by 2030.
The expansion includes new locations in Stark, Summit, Portage, and Geauga counties, along with additional ATMs to better serve members in those regions. The initiative follows the union’s recent naming partnership with the Akron RubberDucks, rebranding Canal Park as 717 Credit Union Park.
As part of its strategic plan, 717 Credit Union is emphasizing financial empowerment, setting goals to reach 10,000 people with financial literacy education and invest $100 million in housing initiatives.
“We’re the largest credit union in Northeast Ohio, but our focus isn’t on size—it’s on impact,” said 717 Credit Union leadership. “Everything we do is designed to help people live better financial lives.”
From no closing fees on mortgages to a 7.17% lifetime-rate credit card aimed at helping members get out of debt, 717 continues to prioritize “value per member” over profits, distinguishing itself from traditional banks.
