YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Demonstrating its commitment to ensure no one in the Mahoning Valley goes hungry, 717 Credit Union donated $10,000 to Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley.
The donation is in sponsorship of the fifth annual Autumn Splendor Plant-Based Meal and Wine Pairing fundraiser, which benefits Second Harvest. The event is scheduled for Nov. 12.
“This $10,000 donation is going to go a long way,” said Mike Iberis, executive director of Second Harvest. “We can provide five meals for $1 – so that’s 50,000 meals they’re going to provide with this generous donation. That’s going to help a lot of people.”
Each week, more than 18,000 people are assisted through Second Harvest’s 160 partners in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties. The food bank distributed more than 10.6 million pounds of food in 2024.
717 Credit Union’s donation will provide nearly 55,000 pounds of food.
