Primetals Technologies Donates $2K to TCTC for New Program

CHAMPION, Ohio – Primetals Technologies has donated $2,000 to Trumbull Career & Technical Center to support the school’s new Industrial Technology program.

The new program, which officially opened at the start of the 2024-25 school year, is designed to provide students with the skills needed to thrive in the rapidly evolving manufacturing industry. It offers hands-on training in a variety of areas, including manufacturing operations, industrial robotics, computer-integrated manufacturing, hydraulics, pneumatics and industrial maintenance.

Students in the program will have the opportunity to earn 22 industry-recognized credentials.

The program was developed in response to input from local businesses and industry leaders, including the Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition, which identified a growing need for skilled workers in fields related to advanced manufacturing and automation.

The program’s curriculum, which will expand in its second year to include electric vehicle training, gives students both broad foundational knowledge and specialized expertise in key areas of modern industry.

“We are deeply committed to supporting educational initiatives that foster the next generation of talent in the industries we serve,” said Timothy Drummond, director of U.S. metallurgical services, flat rolling and morgoil at Primetals Technologies. “At Primetals, we recognize the importance of developing a skilled workforce, and we are proud to contribute to TCTC’s Industrial Technology program.”

The $2,000 donation, which will help offset the cost of student materials and instructional activities, is part of Primetals’ ongoing efforts to give back to the communities where it operates and to invest in workforce development initiatives that will help bridge the skills gap in manufacturing and related industries.

“Local businesses like Primetals Technologies play a critical role in the success of programs like ours,” said Paula Baco, TCTC high school director. “This donation helps us equip our students with the tools they need to succeed in advanced manufacturing careers. We are grateful for Primetals’ support and commitment to the future of our students and the region’s workforce.”
