For Alta Care Group, the Valley agency committed to the social, emotional, behavioral, educational and physical well-being of children, adolescents, young adults and families, 2025 marked a year of transformation.

Vince Paolucci is the new chief executive officer, appointed after the retirement of Joseph Shorokey. Paolucci brings nearly 30 years of experience in behavioral healthcare.

“I am incredibly honored with the trust the board has placed in me and look forward to continuing the incredible work of Alta Care Group,” he says. “My goal is to continue the development and strengthening of our programs that provide critical support to children and families in need.”

Alta also welcomed Stephen Inchak as chief operating officer and Donna Shields as director of Alta Head Start and Early Head Start.

The growth wasn’t limited to Alta’s leadership. The organization grew its services with the opening of its first location in Columbiana County and the expansion of its Mobile Response Stabilization Services into Trumbull and Columbiana. MRSS is available for youth and young adults under 21 who are experiencing severe emotional or behavioral distress. Anyone in the community can access MRSS for youth 24/7 by calling 988.

Alta serves as the Regional Management Provider in Mahoning and Trumbull counties and as the subcontractor in Columbiana County through respective partnerships with Coleman Health Services and Ohio Guidestone.

In 2025, Alta hosted its first fundraiser, Chips for Kids: A Roaring 20s Casino Royale. The event raised over $20,000 in donations, sponsorships and attendees to support Alta programs that are not fully supported by grants, commercial insurance and/or Medicaid or board funding.

Chips for Kids is returning in 2026 with the next fundraiser planned for March 27 at Aulizio’s Banquet Center in Warren. Tickets and sponsorships are available by visiting the Events page online at AltaCareGroup.org.

The organization, founded in 1976 by Gregory F. Cvetkovic, marks its 50th anniversary in 2026. It’s grown into eight behavioral healthcare locations across Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties and 21 Head Start locations throughout Mahoning and Trumbull, serving nearly 10,000 members of the community each year.

“The unwavering commitment of our employees and our strong leadership team has helped us grow into the organization we are today, and we are eager to continue to mark this milestone throughout the coming year,” Paolucci said.
