YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – EPRI, a member of America Makes, has received Best Paper recognition from the Manufacturing, Materials, and Metallurgy Committee for its paper “Learnings in the Qualification of ABD900AM for Turbine, Aerospace, and Energy Applications.”
Presented at the 2025 American Society of Mechanical Engineers Turbo Expo in Memphis, Tenn., the paper highlights advancements in qualifying additive manufacturing for critical aerospace and defense applications.
The award underscores EPRI’s role in advancing additive manufacturing technologies and contributing to the development of more rigorous standards for mission-critical engineering, a news release states.
EPRI will receive the award during the Manufacturing, Materials & Metallurgy Committee Meeting at ASME Turbo Expo 2026, which will take place June 15-19 in Milan, Italy.
“This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of the EPRI team,” said Jeff Verkleeren, senior project engineer at America Makes. “Through collaboration with America Makes members and their expert advisory teams, EPRI demonstrated the core principles of the America Makes mission, advancing the adoption of additive manufacturing. We look forward to seeing product development and application use cases applying ABD900AM.”
The ASME Turbo Expo is regarded as the leading international forum for turbomachinery, convening researchers, industry experts and policymakers to discuss developments in gas turbines, wind energy and power systems, while showcasing pathways toward net-zero goals, the release states.
