COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio’s College Technology Internship Program is now accepting company applications for the 2024 summer internship round.
The program supports technology companies, or companies with a technological need, in hiring diverse talent and will pay up to two-thirds of each intern’s salary.
“By providing this financial incentive, we are helping Ohio’s technology field produce a pipeline of emerging talent,” said Lydia Mihalik, director of the Department of Development. “The College Technology Internship Program not only allows companies to recruit locally, but it highlights the state’s competitiveness in emerging job pathways for the workforce of today and tomorrow.”
The Ohio Third Frontier, an economic development initiative within the Department of Development, will reimburse companies for two-thirds of an intern’s wages, up to $7,500. The company can hire as many as 10 interns per round, and the minimum wage for interns is $15 per hour but can exceed that amount.
Intern experience encompasses all areas of study, including design, engineering, mathematics and software development. Interns have helped companies develop social media platforms, mobile apps and websites and new augmented reality and virtual reality technologies. They’ve also helped to implement new software to modernize operations, accounting and enhance cybersecurity.
The program is accepting company applications through Jan. 31. Internships for this round can occur from May 1 through Oct. 31.
