NEW CASTLE, Pa. – Forward Lawrence is accepting applications for its next Leadership Lawrence County class, which will begin later this month.
Leadership Lawrence County is targeted to current and emerging leaders in both the private and public sectors and combines classroom training with tours of companies and organizations in the county. It also provides opportunities to interact with leaders in the community.
“Leadership students get an up-close look at some of the challenges that face our county, while also learning about all that Lawrence County offers, and opportunities for them to contribute to the economic growth and quality of life in the area,” said Lyndsey Overby, director of Leadership Lawrence County.
The curriculum covers topics such as engaging in multigenerational workforces, public policy and government, conflict resolution and entrepreneurship.
This year, Leadership Lawrence County is partnering with Westminster College to provide professional development training, and students who complete the program will earn two college credits.
Students meet one day each month from October through June and also work on a group project that benefits the community. Previous classes have raised funds to improve handicapped-accessibility at multiple parks in the county and provided blankets and cribs to new mothers.
The cost of the program is $1,250 per student, and needs-based scholarships are available to eligible students. An application form is available HERE.
