BOARDMAN, Ohio – Aqua Ohio in 2024 continued to invest in its Mahoning Valley operations to improve service and offer options to government-owned utilities.
The water and wastewater company based in Boardman, with a local operation center in Struthers, delivers an average of 5.2 million gallons of drinking water per day to Campbell, Struthers, Poland, Lowellville, New Middletown and the townships of Beaver, Boardman, Canfield, Coitsville, Poland and Springfield.
It also serves 1,400 customers in Masury and 300 customers in Columbiana County’s Lake Tomahawk.
In 2024, the company completed system improvements in the Mahoning Valley worth $8.5 million, including replacement of aging water mains and upgrades to the water treatment plant. It was part of the $65.6 million Aqua invested across its operations statewide.
The company expects to spend more than $72 million across the state in 2025, according to Pete Kusky, director of operations. Approximately $12.2 million of that will be invested in the Mahoning Valley.
Aqua sees the outlook for growth in Ohio as very positive. As some communities struggle to meet evolving EPA requirements, Aqua can serve as a lifeline by taking responsibility for needed investment and providing resources to meet other local priorities.
“We’re actively discussing potential agreements across the state,” says Bob Davis, company president.
Statewide, Aqua has recently added systems in the villages of Chesapeake, in Lawrence County, and La Rue in Marion County. The company expects to announce an expansion in central Ohio in the coming months.
