SALEM, Ohio – Expanded hours for walk-in 3D mammogram screenings will be available at two ARC Medical Imaging locations. 

The expanded walk-in hours will be offered from 4-7 p.m. Sept. 30 at ARC’s Canfield location, 5002 Millennial Lane, and from 4-7 p.m. Oct. 2 at the Columbiana location, 400 Town Center Ave., on the ground floor of Salem Regional Medical Center’s Surgery and Outpatient Pavilion at Firestone Farms.

As a special treat, the first 30 patients who complete a mammogram at either location during the expanded hours will receive a complimentary dish of ice cream courtesy of the Totally 80s Ice Ice Cream Shoppe of Salem and Austintown.

ARC Medical Imaging is an independent diagnostic testing facility and a service of Salem Regional Medical Center.

Salem Regional offers walk-in 3D mammograms from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday at both ARC locations and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday-Friday at SRMC’s Medical Imaging Department at the main campus.

The 3D mammogram technology at ARC Medical Imaging’s Columbiana and Canfield locations and Salem Regional’s main campus is accredited by the American College of Radiology, which is the gold standard for facilities providing the highest level of image quality and safety, a news release states.

“Our 3D units feature the widest-angled acquisition method, which provides the greatest depth resolution and clarity of images, unlike other older 3D mammogram equipment,” said Dr. Peter Apicella, medical director of ARC Medical Imaging and chief radiologist at Salem Regional. “This level of detail greatly enhances the ability to quickly and more accurately identify early cancers, especially in women with dense breasts and fibrocystic breast disease, where tumors are more difficult to find.”

ARC Medical Imaging’s Canfield location offers expanded diagnostic medical imaging services beyond 3D mammograms, including CT scans, ultrasounds and digital X-rays, with walk-in availability for mammograms and digital X-rays during normal business hours.

In addition to the services provided at the Canfield location, the Columbiana location also offers 3T MRIs and DEXA bone density scans. Patients can walk in during regular hours for mammograms, DEXA scans and digital X-rays.
