Paul J. Garchar Jr.
CEO, Potential Development School for Students with Autism, Youngstown

Paul Garchar is best known for his dedication to serving families of children with autism. He works tirelessly to ensure that every family has access to the services they need.

Twenty-five years ago, when Paul was appointed CEO of Potential Development, the nonprofit organization consisted of a half-day preschool program with 20 children. Today, Potential Development is a pre-K through 12th grade school with an enrollment topping 300 students and employing a staff of more than 150.

The best examples of success can be found in the more than 90 young adults who have graduated from Potential Development with their high school diplomas. The foundation for our success is a team effort. But it starts and ends with our leadership. We are who we are today thanks to Paul’s unwavering dedication to helping families and children living with autism.

The list of qualities that define Paul as an impact maker is a long one but it can be summed up with one word: integrity. The moral principals that guide Paul in his leadership efforts are simple and effective: Do the right thing, help each other and make life better for those around you.
