The Autism Society of Mahoning Valley has served as a support system for individuals and families across Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties for more than 30 years.

As the organization moves through 2026, it is scaling its operations to meet growth in regional demand.

Nationally, approximately one in 31 children are identified and ASMV currently serves an estimated 3,000 children and a growing population of more than 10,000 autistic adults.

The organization’s mission has evolved from a social service into a regional priority, as ASMV now manages more than 50 autism-specific services annually, designed to foster independence and community integration.

ASMV found permanent headquarters at the Youngstown Business Incubator in 2025, a base for coordinating programs and strengthening partnerships with local schools, healthcare providers and employers.

Appointed executive director in November, Jodi Glass brings more than seven years of ASMV leadership and experience as a parent of a child on the spectrum.

Robin Suzelis retains her position as information and referral director, serving as the primary link between families and the regional service network.

The 2025 expansion of Camp Friend addressed the “service cliff” many families face as children transition into adulthood, officials say introducing teen and young adult participants to high-demand local sectors, including Stem, welding and robotics.

Community outings allow participants to practice daily life skills necessary for independent living. For local employers, these initiatives help cultivate a neurodivergent talent pool characterized by strong attention to detail and unique problem-solving perspectives.

ASMV’s Social Connections program also saw record engagement, with many events reaching capacity, officials say. Outings for youth and young adults build social capital and confidence required for community participation.
