YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Autism Society of Mahoning Valley has accepted the resignation of Executive Director Stacie Bacorn, effective immediately, following her admission in Stark County Common Pleas Court to financial misconduct during her prior employment at another nonprofit organization.

The ASMV Board of Directors has appointed board President Aundréa Cika Heschmeyer to serve as acting executive director, and Vice President Jodi Glass will assume the role of board president. The organization is assessing its next steps and initiating a leadership transition plan, a news release states.

“This news is deeply disappointing, especially given the trust and integrity upon which our organization is built,” Cika Heschmeyer said. “While these actions did not occur during her time with the Autism Society of Mahoning Valley, our board believes strongly in transparency, accountability and the continued confidence of the families and supporters we serve. Our mission – and the families who depend on us – come first.”

The organization will remain committed to improving the quality of life for individuals with autism and their families through programming, advocacy and connection across Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, the release states.

“We will continue delivering on our mission without interruption and with renewed determination to uphold the highest ethical standards in everything we do,” Cika Heschmeyer said.
