GARRETTSVILLE, Ohio – The annual Spring Badfish festival will ignite the season at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park from May 30-June 1, and the water will be open for swimming.
The rock festival will feature two nights of performances by Badfish, the country’s top Sublime tribute act.
Also on the bill are The Quasi Kings, Joe Samba, the Ries Brothers, Toby Raps, Land of Panda, Frenchie Tunes, Mooky and Khemocean. The weekend will also include appearances by Enfuego fire performers and Sound Baths by Steve Turner.
Badfish has been playing the ska-punk and reggae rock music of Sublime for 22 years.
But the Rhode Island-based band – Joel Hanks on bass, Scott Begin on drums, Pat Downes on vocals and guitar and Danny Torgersen on horns, keyboards and guitars – does more than just recreate a concert by Sublime.
Badfish recently released its second original song, the anthemic “F You Pay Me,” as the follow-up to its first single, “High on You.”
Fans can expect to hear Sublime hits like “What I Got,” “Santeria” and “Wrong Way,” with Badfish’s own songs mixed in.
“Putting out original music alongside being a tribute band has always been a point of interest to us,” Begin said in a news release. “It’s been a tricky path to walk, though. Yet as the years have gone by and we’ve gotten to witness our little show turn into somewhat of a movement within the scene, we are at the point where we feel we have something of real heart and value to add not only to our show but to the American reggae scene.”
Tickets for the weekend range from $108 to $137 (includes camping). This is an all-ages show; children’s tickets are $29.
