YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Federal Frenzy, the annual free downtown rock music festival with dozens of bands, will return April 18.
On Friday, six local bands will compete for a spot in the festival at the Federal Frenzy Face Off. The event will take place at Westside Bowl, 2617 Mahoning Ave. Doors will open at 7 p.m., and music will start at 8 p.m.
Each band will have 20 minutes to perform. At the end of the night, audience members will select the winner, which will be guaranteed a spot in the fest lineup.
The remaining bands will also have a chance to be selected later.
Performing at the Face Off will be: Zoloft! (psychedelic indie horn rock), Doomsday Darling (pop rock), Mo Turk (hip hop), Brake Fluid (grunge), SJ the Artisan (hip hop, with reggae, funk and rock influences) and Drifting Thing and the Future Ghosts (emo).
Federal Frenzy, and the Face Off, are sponsored by Youngstown State University and presented by Penguin Productions, the student promotion organization.
A shuttle bus will be in operation to transport students between the campus and Westside Bowl before and after the Face Off.
