YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Youngstown CityScape on Thursday recognized those who have made exceptional beautification or preservation efforts and continue to raise the standards throughout the city.
The organization announced the winners of its 18th annual Beautification Awards during a ceremony and reception at Concept Studio.
CityScape presented awards in four categories: Business, Institutional, Community and Residential.
“Every year we appreciate the gardening talent, dedication and positive energy that these award-winning members of our community display,” said Sharon Letson, executive director of Youngstown CityScape. “CityScape believes it is important to recognize the effort and pride that people put into their property and community.”
Here are the recipients of this year’s awards:
Business
- Broadway Park Retirement Community (Pam Minor).

Institutional
- City of Youngstown Street Department (Jordan Karim and Tony Armeni).
- Hopewell Theater (Regina Rees).
- Hope for Newport Community Garden (Stuart Smith and Martin Luther Lutheran Church).

Residential
- Sherwood Armor.

- Andre Lamont-Morgan.

“We receive nominations ranging from multimillion-dollar developments to beautifully created and tended gardens in residential neighborhoods,” Letson said. CityScape’s Beautification Awards are a small way for us to join together and say ‘thank you,’ recognizing others who are committed to making a difference in helping Youngstown look inviting.”
