YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Big Lots stores in Boardman and Warren reopened Thursday, and the New Castle, Pa., location will reopen May 15.

Big Lots, now under the ownership of Variety Wholesalers, announced earlier this week that it would reopen 132 stores in 14 states May 1 and May 15.

“The Big Lots stores opening in May show our continued commitment to providing the best value to our customers with apparel for the family, everyday needs for the home, kitchen and pantry plus a huge selection of famous brands,” said Lisa Seigies, president and CEO of Variety Wholesalers. “I couldn’t be prouder of the dedicated team who made it possible for us to serve these communities again.”

Grand opening celebrations are planned for the fall.

Valley Wholesalers, which acquired the Big Lots stores through bankruptcy, will operate more than 400 stores in 18 states under the names Big Lots, Roses Discount Stores, Roses Express and Maxway.

The retailer offers brand-name and closeout merchandise at bargain prices, including apparel, home décor, health and beauty items, toys and more.
