Boak & Sons Hosts Garage Sale Giveaway May 22

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Gently used goods will be free for the taking at the Boak Garage Sale Giveaway. The event will take place May 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Boak & Sons warehouse, 75 Victoria Road.

The warehouse will be full of household appliances, clothing, tools, furniture and other items.

Each individual who attends will be allowed to bring one box and will have 30 minutes to fill it with items of their choosing. Boxes will be available at the event for those who do not bring one. Each person who arrives in a group will get a box to fill.

To prevent overcrowding, not all items will be put out at the same time. Items will be restocked throughout the day to give all attendees an opportunity to find items they need and to prevent overcrowding.

Everything will be free. Attendees will have the option of donating money to the Youngstown Salvation Army or Beatitude House.

Members of the public can donate items to the Giveaway by dropping them off at the Boak warehouse weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

All items must be clean and in working condition.

The Garage Sale Giveaway came about when Sam Boak, president and founder of Boak & Sons Inc., contacted the Canfield Rotary Club and brought it aboard as a partner.

While the initial idea was to hold a large garage sale in the warehouse, Boak decided to make every item free.

Boak & Sons employees have been doing spring cleaning at their homes in preparation for this event, bringing in items for the giveaway.

“We all have things we don’t use in our homes that others could benefit from,” Boak said. “I pride myself in knowing how passionate the employees here are about helping the community and giving back, and this gives us an opportunity to do so.”

To ensure the safety of all attendees, masks and social distancing will be enforced at the event. The company’s large warehouse provides ample room for social distancing and comfort.

As an extra precaution, attendees will be sent inside in small groups.
