Board of Control Approves $75K Contract with Economic Action Group
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The city Board of Control this morning approved a $75,000 contract with Economic Action Group.
The contract, which City Council approved last month, runs through Dec. 31, 2021. Under its terms, EAG will provide planning, economic development and planning services.
The agreement builds on a $25,000 contract the city entered into with EAG in April to assist with its response to the coronavirus pandemic and corridor planning.
Under that agreement, the organization recorded 444 completed calls and logged nearly 1,200 outreach contacts with Youngstown businesses, primarily by phone, to identify business needs during the pandemic and help direct them to resources to assist them.
“Right now, a lot of our work has been primary focused on the COVID response,” Nick Chretien, EAG program manager, said.
Additionally, his organization is assisting with potential economic projects involving city-owned buildings, economic development planning and virtual marketing, including a holiday mailer that was distributed last week.
Under the new agreement, EAG will mainly consult with the community planning and economic development department but also work with other departments on relevant projects that align with economic development, Chretien said.
